High Tea, Relay Fundraiser, Spring Plant Sale & More At âMain Street In Mayâ
Four groups have joined forces to offer special events for one weekend in May.
Craddockâs Heirloom Gardens will present their annual plant sale Friday, May 19, through Sunday, May 21. The sale will run from 9 am to 5 pm each day at 59 Main Street, just north of the flagpole and Edmond Town Hall.
Not just native-grown plants anymore, this yearâs sale will also include unusual and deer resistant perennials along with attractively priced annual plants, small trees and shrubs.
Also this year, noted author and celebrated gardener Sydney Eddison will be at the event Saturday. Ms Eddison will join sign copies of her latest book, Gardens to Go: Creating and designing a container garden.
Crafter Joann Larnerd will also be on hand, showing and selling her handmade garden art.
For a plant list and plant photos visit HGLLC.us or call 241-0301. Craddockâs Heirloom Gardens is also open by appointment for the season following the plant sale.
On Saturday and Sunday, Peggy Jepsen will host a special show and sale of fine antiques including antique garden art and sculpture at Ram Pasture Antiques, 17 South Main Street (on Ram Pasture). She will be open Saturday and Sunday, also 9 am to 5 pm.
Her son, the sculptor Michael Jepseon, is also hoping to attend. Mr Jepsenâs work is featured in the garden area of Ram Pasture Antiques.
Shane and George Miller, the owners of the historic Budd House at 50 Main Street, will be hosting a tag sale for the benefit of Newtownâs Relay for Life (American Cancer Society fundraiser returning to Newtown High School during the overnight of June 10-11).
On Sunday, May 21, from 2 to 4 pm, The Garden Club of Newtown will host a special event, âArt In Bloom.â This special offering will be at The Dana-Holcombe House, 29 Main Street.
Twelve artists will be showing their works accompanied by floral arrangements and table settings to complement the artwork. High tea and tours of the gardens are included. This second annual event will feature paintings by Betty Christensen, Dick McEvoy and Ruth Newquist, and photographs by Frank Gardner, within the beautifully decorated rooms of the bed and breakfast, complemented by elegant tea served in the dining room by garden club members.
Tickets are $20 and must be reserved in advance. Checks should be made payable to The Garden Club of Newtown and sent, along with a note indicating how many tickets are being purchased, to Beth Caldwell-Cluff, 2 Pinnacle Drive, Newtown CT 06470.
Contact Beth Cluff for reservations at 270-0665.
The four venues will be marked with signs and matching balloons. All four are easy walking distance from each other. Plenty of street parking and municipal parking behind Town Hall.
