NYS Thanks Volunteers
NYS Thanks Volunteers
To the Editor:
On April 29, the final day of Volunteer Week, 80 volunteers turned out to help 39 of our senior citizens with spring lawn cleanup, window washing, and other work. We at Newtown Youth Services want to thank every single volunteer who came to help that day, from a 2-year-old to a 60-something. You really made a difference, according to the many grateful calls we have received. We also want to thank the seniors who trusted us with your homes for the wonderful feedback. Special recognition goes to Jim Loring, whose morning and afternoon groups set a record for number of seniors helped in one day.
Our special thanks also to The General Store, Subway of Sandy Hook, Big Y, Bagel Delight, Dunkinâ Donuts, and Starbucks. Your annual support of Independent Living Day helps us to provide needed services on a limited budget.
Newtown Schools Maintenance Department, thanks for all you do â you are the best!
Gratefully yours,
Tom Murtha
