Police Plan Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign 

For a three-week period, town police plan to intensify their enforcement of automobile safety belt and child safety seat laws.

From May 15 through June 3, town police and state police will be participating in the enforcement campaign known as “Click It or Ticket.” The effort is part of a nationwide enforcement project.

Town police will be conducting spot checks and special patrols during the enforcement campaign. A past survey indicated that 91 percent of people driving in Newtown are using safety belts.

Through the enforcement campaign, police plan to remind people that the law requires wearing safety belts and using child safety seats.
