Girls U16
Glastonbury-Hartwell 1, Hurricanes 0 (CT Cup) â Caleigh Boyle, Gina Bonacci and Meghan McGowan helped control play in the mid-field for the Hurricaneâs that kept constant pressure on the Glastonbury defense. Despite a goal with three minutes left in regulation, Heather Johnson had a strong game in goal.
Hurricanes 1, New Milford 1 â Erin Nemeth led a strong offensive attack as the Hurricanes out-shot New Milford, 20-7. Adelle Cerreta netted the lone goal for the âCanes on a 25-foot shot that caught the goalie off guard. Sarah Sannon and Kelley Sullivan had strong games at mid-field while Meghan Barbour, Sarah Feinstein and Cara Colacurcio anchored the defense.
Girls U13
Roadrunners 8, Torrington 0 â Kristin Stoller, Becca Jaroszewski and Sarah Attanasio all had their first goals of the spring season to lead the Roadrunners to the win.
Roadrunners 4, New Fairfield 0 â Sarah Murtha scored a pair of goals as Becca Castegner and KellyAnne Brophy netted solos to lead the Roadrunners. Casey Rutter was outstanding in goal to record another shutout. Ali Pliszka, Meagan Gonzalez, Emma Kingsley and Jill Jagoe had great all-around games.
Girls U11
Flash 5, NEConn 1 (CT Cup) â Brittany Tolla scored three goals and Katie Yakush and Kelsey Karp added solo goals to lead the Flash in Connecticut Cup action.
Flash 3, Watertown 1 â Melissa Buccino, Stephanie Roman and Brittany Tolla scored to lift the Flash past Watertown.
Boys U11
Cobras 2, NEConn 1 (Colchester Tournament) â Danny Bittman and Connor Quinn scored goals to lead the Cobras past NEConn. Chris Erikson provided an assist as Noah Sock led the defense with a number of strong tackles and stops. Sean Elliott made with eight saves in goal while Pieter Martino, Nick Gerbo, Sam Langdon and Christian Mather controlled the midfield.
Cobras 5, World Class 0 (Colchester Tournament)â Connor Quinn scored three goals, one assisted by Chris Erikson, to lead the Cobras over World Class. Nick Barreto and Robert Willis added a goal apiece and Nick Gerbo provided an assist. Matt Rahtelli, Andrew Kelley, Sean Elliot and Pieter Martino were impenetrable on defense.

Girls U14
Hyper Hippos 3, The Unknowns 2 â Jillian Thompson scored two goals and Katie Howell added another to lead the Hyper Hippos. Emily Dion and Kayla Buckley played well in goal as Margot Isaacs a solid all-around game. For the Unknowns, Audra Sarna and Emma Iannini tallied goals while goalie Emily Rowe and defenders Amanda Sweat and Katie Burns played well.
Turf Trashers 3, Hurricanes 0 â Emily Jones, Kaitlyn Connolly and Dana Bowers scored to lead the Trashers. Meaghan Condon and Hana DeFlumeri played well. For the âCanes, Courtney Berko, Samantha Lew and Samantha Whitley played well in goal while Emily Ashbolt had a strong effort on offense.
Boys U10
Strikers 3, Orangutans 0 â Luca Imbimbo scored two goals while Drew Sullivan chipped in a solo to lead the Strikers. Zachary Waller played great defense while Ethan Parkus had a great all around game. For the Orangutans, Vivek Tedla and Michael Teixeira both played outstanding in goal to keep the game as close as it was. Mitchell Stewart showed great hustle at midfield, while Wesley Morlock and Jonathan Schwartz played well on offense.
Gators 1, Averages Joes 1 â Connor Roche scored the only goal of the game for the Gators with Colin Reilly doing a great job on offense and Michael Senf having a great game defensively. Tim Kelly and Tyler Hanley did a great job as goalies for the Average Joes, and Will Carr and Josh Tuffy played great defense.
Average Joes 4, Pulverizing Peanuts 0 â Tyler Hanley, Connor Hanley and Andrew Derrickson (2) scored to lead the Joes to the win. Joshua Schuette played a great game. Connor Anderson and Thomas Primavera did a great job on offense for the Pulverizing Peanuts while Isaac Farrington was strong on defense and Knute Johnson played a great game overall.
Gold Toasters 2, Power Pigs 1 â Francis Saracini had two goals for the Golden Toasters with Alex Lockhart having a strong game on defense and Matt Bara and Patrick Rowly playing well in goal. Harry Solaski scored for the Power Pigs with great hustle from Tim Vogelman, Chris Zakur, Alex Weber and Justin Germak.
Girls U10
Monkeys 1, Bulldogs 1 â Molly Bryant scored for the Monkeys, Avery Black did great as goalie, Maggie Cost made several nice passes and Meghan Foy was solid on defense. For the Bulldogs, Rachel Karnoff scored off an assist from Michelle Spanedda.
Funky Monkeys 3, Comets 0 â Amy Martin scored two goals and Kerry Scallon scored one goal to lead the Funky Monkeys. Emily Albrecht, Emily Brisson, and Maria Biondi were very strong on defense. For the Comets, Megan Meyer and Courtney Yapp played well on offense as Amanda Crowell and Tami Corsi had good defensive games.
Boys U8
Blue Dragons 4, Great Sharks 0 â Bryce Mather scored three goals and Carter Nordgren added on to lead the Dragons. Matt Hess and Geoffrey Santore played well. For the Sharks, Joe Verga was strong on offense while Kaustav Mitra and Conrad Reilly anchored the D.
Fierce Jaguars 2, Badgers 2 â Paul OâLeary and Janie Cochrane both tallied goals and displayed sharp passing to lead the Fierce Jaguars to a 2-2 tie with the Badgers. Owen Richards helped out with a strong defensive performance. For the Badgers, Liam Kelly and Max Galassi accounted for the two goals. Richard Ciamarra kept things close with great play in the goal with defensive help from Cary DeYoung.
Strikers 3, Tornadoes 0 â Scott Anderson, Dillon Palumbo and Spencer Tolson each scored one goal for the Strikers. Mason Melillo and Grant Obre-Untiedt both had a strong game with excellent passing. The Tornadosâ Ryan Sullivan and Quinn Helmig were great at midfield while Tommy Shaker played well on defense.
Girls U8
Munchkins 6, Fireballs 1 â Amy Martinelli scored five goals as the Munchkins doused the Fireballs. Nicole Russo added a solo goal as Danielle Aqugliaro and Haley Trudell played well on D. For the Fireballs, Marina Renzi scored the goal as Hannah Makris, Portia Baudisch and Bailey Smith played well.
Mustangs 2, Hurricanes 2 â Lauren Villamana and Lucy Helgren scored goals for the Mustangs with a great game played by Madeline Sieber. Raquel Crespo and Quinn Karp tallied for the âCanes while Callan Rafferty and Emma Johanesen had good all-around efforts.
Lady Hawks 3, Cheetah Champions 1 â Meg Korchman scored two goals and Megan Milano added a solo to lead the Hawks. Rachel Lorence, Brinna MacDonald and Jordan Svanda all had solid games. For the Cheetahs, Cassie Fischer scored the goal as goalie Stefanie Carr, Kayleigh Shambelan and Hannah Grant had great overall games.
Dolphins 3, All Stars 2 â Kelsey Muniz scored two goals and Caitlyn Linden added a solo to lift the Dolphins to the win. Jesse Sailer and Emily Turco played great defense. For the Stars, Kirsten Yapp and Maren Brady scored goals with assists by Lexi Rodriguez and Stella Wetchler.
Racing Stripes 2, Ball Hogs 1 â Taylor La Fave with great assists by Emily Riley and Kelly Skewis to lead the Stripes to the win. For the Hogs, Caitlin Filiato scored as Tess Stofko had a solid offensive game. Taryn McCleary and Amanda Albanesi played very strong defense.
Tigers 1, Mustangs 0 â Katherine Jennings scored the lone goal to lift the Tigers to the win. Amy Pruner was solid in net for the Tigers while Alyssa Ruefenacht played well. For the Mustangs, Jessica Coughlin did a phenomenal job in goal as Susan Ziegler did a great job on D.
United Extreme Tryouts
Western United Extreme announced today that tryouts for its 2006-2007 teams will be held on Sunday and Monday, June 4 and 5, at 6 pm in Weston and Brookfield. Tryouts for U9, U10, U11, and U12 Development teams and for U12, U13, and U14 Premier teams will be held.
Western United Extreme is a recently established Girlâs Premier and Premier Development soccer program. The program is sanctioned by the Newtown Soccer Club and will function as a regional soccer program oriented to the most aspiring young women players and designed to promote the highest level of competition.
Encompassing a region that includes Newtown, Southbury, New Milford, Brookfield, Bethel, Weston, Easton, Trumbull, Wilton, Westport, Ridgefield, and Redding, the program is exclusively for Girls Premier and Premier Development Soccer. The program is administered by Soccer Extreme.
