TRUMBULL â Sandy Frank-Zuvanich of Newtown received the Suzanne N. Jovin Volunteer of the Year Award from Marrakech Inc. at the non-profit organizationâs 30th anniversary celebration, held recently in the Grand Ballroom at the Trumbull Marriott.
Marrakech, based in Woodbridge, is a private, nonprofit corporation serving 600 men, women, and children with mental, economic, physical, and psychiatric barriers through a range of programs designed to meet housing, employment, training, and community experience needs.
Ms Frank-Zuvanich is one of 23 Marrakech employees who donated personal and vacation time to Miguel Rivera, an employment specialist at the Marrakech center in New Milford, who became ill with kidney disease. After receiving his brotherâs kidney in a successful transplant, Mr Rivera is now back to work.
Marrakech Inc., founded in 1971, has service branches in New Haven, Cheshire, Bridgeport, Waterbury, and New Milford, and also operates group homes and apartment programs in Greater New Haven, Waterbury, and Fairfield County.
