Auditions for the show were held in December, and the Reed Intermediate School Drama Club has been working since then to bring the production to the stage. 

The school put on High School Musical, the first part of the story that focuses on students who decide to audition for their high school’s musical, in 2008. This year’s performances at the school are scheduled for Friday, May 14, at 7 pm, and Saturday, May 15, at 6 pm, in the school’s cafetorium. All tickets are general seating, and tickets were sold for $5. Tickets were sold during the lunch waves at the school from May 10 to 14.

The story follows high school students as they try, and eventually do, find jobs for summer. A love triangle rises quickly to the attention of the audience as character Troy Bolton’s interest is sought by character Sharpay Evans, but Troy is interested in Gabriella Montez.
