Michael Graves Oil Demonstration, Wed.
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Michael Graves as its guest demonstrator on Wednesday, May 23, at 1:30 pm. Mr Graves comes to Newtown from Massachusetts and will be painting in oil.
The meeting is open to the public and will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole). Admission is free.
A plein aire painter with an impressionistic style, Michael Graveâs goal in painting is to capture the beauty and wonder of natureâs fields, steams and forests. While he frequently paints the rural landscapes of central Massachusetts, his favorite subjects are the rolling hills of New England and the majestic mountains of Colorado, Wyoming and Canada.
Mr Graves has twice earned one of the âtop 100â honors in the highly regarded Annual Arts for the Parks competition. He has received many awards and medals including a Grumbacher Gold Medal from Salmagundi Club in New York City and from Academic Artists, Springfield, Mass., and The Silver Medal of Honor from Allied Artists, of New York, among others.
Currently his work is displayed in galleries in Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio.
