Den Hike To Celebrate National Trails Day
Den Hike To Celebrate
 National Trails Day
WESTON â A moderately strenuous hike of five to six miles will take place on Saturday, June 2, from 10 am to 2:30 pm, and will feature the northwestern part of Devilâs Den, a 1,756-acre nature preserve owned by The Nature Conservancy and located on the Weston/Redding border.
The hike will celebrate National Trails Day and some of the more than 21 miles of trails available all year long during daylight hours at the Den. These trails are part of the larger Saugatuck Valley Trails System, which boats more than 50 miles of trails within the Saugatuck Forest Lands.
Led by den guides Peter Heye, Hale Sargent, and Heather Seymour, the hike will feature rivers and views within the Denâs protected hardwood forest. Lunch will be eaten en route.
The hike will start from the Devilâs Den parking lot at the end of Pent Road in Weston. Participants should wear hiking shoes, pack a snack lunch, and bring water. Registration is required and limited, so participants should call the Den offices at 203-226-4991 weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm for reservation, information, or directions to the parking area.
