CT Choral Society Annual Fundraiser Auction This Weekend

WOODBURY — The Connecticut Choral Society (CCS) will hold its annual fundraiser auction on Sunday, May 18, from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, at Woodbury Senior Center, 265 Main Street South. Admission will be $15 per person, payable at the door.

This year’s event is titled “The Great American Songbook,” and will include live entertainment, silent and live auctions, wine tasting, food and beverages. Wines for the tasting will be provided by The Wine Cellar of Southbury.

Eric Knapp, CSS Artistic Director, and Sally Stearns, CCS President, will greet guests and provide perspective on CCS’s future plans and events.

“The Great American Songbook” will feature live performances by CCS’s own Claudia Hughes, with jazz and standard songs from the 1920s to 40s; The CCS Chamber Singers, with lively a cappella selections; and special guest performer Perry Price of Danbury, an internationally acclaimed tenor with a long and distinguished career in opera and various stage works, who will be singing from the great Broadway musical Carousel, and more.

Live auction items include a week’s stay in Berlin, a day trip to Tanglewood for a notable summer concert, tickets to musical concerts, tickets to a broad spectrum of major league and college sporting events, household items, artwork, fine wines, a day trip to Block Island or Martha’s Vineyard by air, and much more.

The Connecticut Choral Society, Inc. is made up of more than 60 auditioned singers from 19 area towns. Founded in 1980, CCS is committed to providing a music resource for Connecticut, encouraging the singing and performance of choral music of high artistic quality, and stimulating greater appreciation and enjoyment of choral music. The choral society performs locally several times each year and has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, toured internationally, and performed on network television.
