Jesse Charles Lewis, 78, died May 14 at the home of his daughter. He was the widower of Gloria M. (Bailey) Lewis. Mr Lewis was born March 9, 1930, in Danbury, son of Claude and Genevieve (Andrews) Lewis.
He was a lifelong resident of Newtown before moving to Southbury in 2005. He retired as owner and operator of J. Charles Lewis Custodial Service.
Mr Lewis leaves one daughter, Linda L. Northrop of Southbury; one brother, Donald Lewis of Newtown; three sisters, Jeanette Perry of Englewood, Fla., Martha Didato of Milford, and Marian Fortier of Newtown; three grandchildren, Danielle Elizabeth Lewis-Northrop of Bristol, Nicolle Stephanie Lewis-Northrop of Southbury, and Jordan K. Lewis-Northrop of Southbury; and very close family friends, Ricardo Rago, his wife, Adrianna, and their three children of Bethel.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 17, at 11 am, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury. Calling hours are Friday, May 16, from 6 to 8 pm, at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Huntingtown Cemetery, Newtown.
