Marie Kuechle Marsilius

Treasured Life

And Family

Marie (Kuechle) Marsilius, 89, of Easton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died May 7 at her home, with her family nearby. Born on March 28, 1919, in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of Frederick and Katherine (Mueller) Kuechle.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Newman M. Marsilius, Jr; her four children, Newman M. Marsilius III of Newtown, Diane Nicholls of Arlington, Mass., Barbara Link of Rehoboth, Mass., and Kathy Bourque of North Attleboro, Mass.; their spouses Sandra Marsilius, Robert Nicholls, and David Bourque; her sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Claude Widerman of Gaithersburg, Md.; her brother-in-law, Phillip R. Marsilius of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Newman Marsilius IV, Christian Marsilius, William Barendse, Peter Barendse, Andrew Bourque, Dana Bourque, and Alexa Bourque; one great-grandchild, Chase Newman Marsilius; and five nephews, James Powers, Norman Marsilius, Mark Widerman, Bradley Widerman, and Jeffrey Widerman.

She enjoyed a long, loving marriage and family life. She resided for 31 years in Trumbull, moving to Easton in 1976, and kept a summer cottage, “Nana’s Beach,” in West Yarmouth, Mass. Her love for life was only surpassed by the great love she held for her family. She treasured several things: many long enduring friendships, summers at the Cape, and a passion for sports. Her energetic spirit, loving kindness, and grace will be sorely missed by those who knew her.

A service of thanksgiving for her life was held May 13 at the Congregational Church of Easton,  with a reception following. Interment was private.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Marie K. Marsilius Fund at the Congregational Church of Easton, 336 Westport Road, Easton CT 06612.
