Police To Heighten Seatbelt Enforcement
From May 18 to May 31, town police will heighten their enforcement of seatbelt use by motorists as part of a state and national enforcement project known as “Click It or Ticket — Day & Night.”
Newtown, Redding, Bethel, and Brookfield police will join forces during the project, conducting heavy enforcement in each of those four towns. The four-town team of police will be in Newtown to hold three separate four-hour enforcement projects during the Click-It or Ticket campaign.
Newtown police have secured a $5,500 grant from the state’s highway safety office to cover all police overtime costs for the enforcement, police said.
The project also will include enforcement of laws on child safety seat usage, police said.
