Newtown High School’s girls’ tennis team had a pair of matches on May 10, defeating Brookfield 5-2 and falling to Weston 7-0, then beat Notre Dame Prep of Fairfield 6-1 on May 12 and topped Immaculate of Danbury 4-3 on May 13.

Winners against Notre Dame were No. 2 singles Sophia Dutsar 6-0, 6-0, No. 3 Eren Weiss 6-4, 6-1, and No. 4 Caleigh Ward 6-2, 6-3; along with No. 1 doubles players Reese Lischuk and Eli Musen 6-0, 6-2; No. 2 Sydney Bruno and Ella Romano 6-0, 6-1; and No. 3 Grace Newsome and Vicki Rozinka 6-0, 6-0.

Against Immaculate, NHS singles winners were No. 1 Emily Anderson 6-4, 6-0 and No, 2 Dutsar 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. Doubles winners were No. 1 Lischuk and Musen 6-2, 6-4 and No. 2 Emma Lyddy and Katie Jarvis 6-3, 6-3.

The NHS boys followed a 7-0 win over Stratford on May 8 with a 6-1 victory over Brookfield on May 13. Singles winners in the Brookfield match: No. 1 A.J. Singh 6-2, 6-2; No. 2 Frankie Cannizzo 6-1, 6-3; No. 3 Aarav Shetty 6-0, 6-2; and No. 4 Brody Paulsen 6-1, 6-2. Doubles winners were No. 1 Theo Anderson and Will Conlin 6-4, 6-4 and No. 3 Cam Linnetz and Stephen Singlak 6-2, 6-2.
