The New England Region of the World Tang Soo Do Association held its annual tournament at the Charter Oak School in Oxford, and students representing Porco’s Karate in Sandy Hook performed very well.

The tournament was attended by the World Tang Soo Do Association leader and founder, Grandmaster Jae C. Shin of Philadelphia.

Martial art schools from around New England attended the event, with representatives from Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Vermont. More than 200 competitors from the region attended the event and participated in the events such as Forms, Sparring, Weapons and team creativity.

The participants competed in divisions of equal age and rank and received awards from first to fourth place.

Porco’s Karate Academy had over 20 members of its school participate in the event. Of the competitors, Porco’s had two Black Belt members – Chris Perry and Lauren D’Amico – compete in their respective divisions and win a first –place ranking in all three categories, thus winning the Grand Championship.
