In an article on municipal budget deliberations in last week’s Newtown Bee, quotes from two residents who spoke at the May 10 Legislative Council meeting were inadvertently combined. The segment of the article should have read:

Sue Zimmerman appealed to the council to make more cuts from the municipal side of the budget and to spare the remaining education spending proposal.

“Let’s see our services impacted this time; the kids paid last time around and they suffered greatly,” she said.

Middle Gate School teacher Tisha McCoy told council members the situation was so drastic in her own classroom that she recently had to go to an office store to buy her students pencils. “As a parent with children in the system and a taxpayer, I understand both sides of the fence, but I’m living [with budget cuts] every day in the system,” she said.

Also, a story last week entitled “Packages From Home Tell Marines That Family and Friends Care About Their Health, Comfort, and Safety” incorrectly listed the location of Liberty Computer Services.

The firm is located in Dodgingtown on Dodgingtown Road.
