Indie Films Returning

For Library Series

The next film in the CH Booth Library Independent Film Series is Agata and the Storm which will be shown on Tuesday, June 6, at 7:30 pm, in the library’s lower meeting room.

The film was originally scheduled for a May screening but was rescheduled due to a conflict in the library’s schedule.

Agata (Licia Maglietta) runs an airy store in downtown Genoa with the assistance of Maria Libera (comedienne Gisela Volodi), dispensing books to customers like they were medicine for the soul. She’s such a ray of sunshine, it’s no surprise when Nicola (Claudio Santamaria), 13 years her junior and married, declares he is madly in love with her.

Two other story strands play a role in the film but Agata’s tale moves the story forward and she captures the heart of viewers.

Heading the cast, actress Maglietta rewrites the cinematic rules of sex, age and beauty with her magnetism. Next to her everyone else fades into a character actor. The film is in Italian with English subtitles. Running time is 118 minutes.

Call the library at 426-4533 for additional information; reservations are not necessary. A new listing of independent films will be available soon.
