Main Street DUI

Police report that they stopped motorist Jason Matthews, 22, of Simsbury on Main Street about 1 am May 16 to investigate.

After Matthews was given field sobriety testing, police charged him with driving under the influence, failure to obey traffic signs and markings, and driving without a license.

Police held Mathews on $250 bail for an appearance later that day in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Arrest

Police said that at about 10 pm May 15, they found motorist Brian T. Jenkins, 23, of Trumbull sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, which was parked near Edmond Town Hall on Main Street.

After giving Jenkins field sobriety tests, police charged him with driving under the influence, failure to carry a vehicle registration, and interfering with police.

After he posted $400 bail, police released Jenkins for a May 31 court appearance.

Turkey Vs Dodge

About 9:50 am May 15, while she was driving a 1999 Dodge van eastward on Mile Hill Road, motorist Louise K. Howell, 51, of High Rock Road, encountered a wild turkey, which had flown out from the right side of the road, police said. The turkey then flew into the Dodge’s front windshield, according to police. Howell told police that she could not avoid colliding with the bird.

Howell was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Five MV Charges

Police report they stopped motorist Juan Lujuan, 23, of Bethel, who was driving a 1990 Plymouth Laser 54 miles per hour in a posted 25-mph zone on Swamp Road about 6:40 am May 15.

Police charged Lujuan with speeding, failure to have automotive insurance, failure to have a driver’s license, driving an unregistered vehicle, and misuse of marker plates.

After posting $500 bail, Lujuan was released and scheduled to appear that day in Danbury Superior Court.
