Police Heighten Motor Vehicle Law Enforcement
As part of a public safety campaign, police have heightened their motor vehicle law enforcement throughout town, seeking to stop and ticket errant motorists for illegal behavior, police Sergeant John Cole said this week.
Sgt Cole said the project, which started May 15, is planned to continue through June 30.
Police will be watching traffic for all types of violations and issuing traffic tickets, as necessary, Sgt Cole said.
Violations such as speeding, disobeying traffic signals, and driving through stop signs will be among the problems that police focus on during the enforcement project, he said. The police departmentâs radar units and its motorist speed display will be used in the program, he said.
Police also are participating in the âClick It or Ticketâ campaign, which seeks compliance with seat belt and child safety seat laws.
âPolice will be keeping an eye out for safetyâ¦Itâs all about safety,â Sgt Cole said.
