Vegetarian Cooking, Pakistani Style,

At The Library

Spice up your menu this summer with some great new recipes.

C.H. Booth Library will host a vegetarian cooking demonstration of Pakistani food by Kanwal Sakhi on Thursday, June 1, at 7 pm.

The class will feature healthy, fresh, and delicious main course meals bursting with flavor and color. Ms Sakhi will be preparing aalloo gobhi (cauliflower with potatoes), choolay (chickpea curry), aalloo matar gajar (potatoes, carrots, and green peas), chana pallaow (rice with chickpeas), and aalloo bhaji (dry potatoes). After the demonstration participants will have opportunity to taste everything so plan on being hungry.

Kanwal Sakhi, a Newtown resident, has shared her cooking talents at the library in the past and organizers are looking forward to this next planned visit. Her classes are full of cooking techniques, and how and where to shop for the best spices.

Preregistration is required and there is a $12 fee to cover supplies.

Call the library, at 426-4533, or visit the library in person to sign up for the class.
