Volunteer Artists Are Making Bowls For BowlFest 2006
BROOKFIELD â More than fifty artist friends of Brookfield Craft Center have been hard at work making bowls for BowlFest 2006, according to Kristin Muller, the non-profit centerâs education director and project coordinator for the festive fundraising event scheduled for Sunday, June 4. The event will run from 1 to 4 pm.
It is the fifth annual âspecial picnic for special friends,â says John I. Russell, BCCâs executive director. The event draws hundreds of supporters who each get to pick and take home one of the handmade bowls which this year will include ceramic, glass and turned wood bowls. Reservations are required and space is limited.
The popular event provides a fresh and fun approach to fundraising, which will assist the center during the renovations of its historic campus on Route 25 in Brookfield.
For a suggested donation of $50 per person attendees also get great food and drink served on the grounds of the centerâs circa 1780 mill building. Participants will enjoy live musical performances by The Midnight Sun Jazz Quintet, and can also participate in a silent auction of fine designer craftwork made by the artists and faculty of Brookfield Craft Center.
The auction items, which will be on display in BCCâs Lynn Tendler Bignell Gallery, will include more than thirty items and will be on view starting May 27. Those items will also be on view and can be bid on via he centerâs website.
Brookfield Craft Center, whose campus is composed of six buildings and is located just east of the âfour cornersâ intersection with Routes 25 and 7/202, is at 286 Whisconier Road (Route 25). The center is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
