The annual fundraising and volunteer thank you breakfast hosted by the Newtown Chapter of Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut will take place Wednesday, June 17, at The Waterview, 215 Roosevelt Drive (Route 34), just over the Newtown line in Monroe.

Co-chairpersons Marg Studley and Marie Sturdevant are looking forward to the 26th year of the event to support the hospice organization devoted to the comfort and care of terminally ill patients and their families. Regional Hospice serves more than 500 patients and families from the area, every year. Extending the care options for hospice patients, Regional Hospice and Home Care opened The Center for Comfort Care & Healing in Danbury, earlier this year. It is the first hospice residence in the state of Connecticut to offer private room service.

The facility incorporates 12 private suites, each with a balcony onto which patient beds can be rolled for fresh air. Living rooms, family rooms, a dining room and kitchen, and a library, add to the home atmosphere of the center. Patients and families also have access there to a professional chef, spa and salon services, a chapel, gardens, and a playscape.

Guests at the annual breakfast are encouraged to sponsor a table for eight, for $125. Corporate table sponsorships are available, at $500 for a table for 12. Guests are encouraged to donate “tips” to the wait staff (Regional Hospice volunteers and often the table’s main sponsor), which become donations to the agency, as does the money raised through table sponsorship and a raffle.

Seats for walk-ins are always available. Individuals may attend for $12 per person. It is also possible to sponsor a table even if the benefactor is not able to attend.

Sponsors will be recognized in the program, whether they are present or not.

Along with a breakfast feast and a chance to visit with friends and associates, every year the event features a special guest speaker.

Attendees are asked to arrive by 7:45 am for the 8 to 9 am event, so that participants can enjoy the breakfast and still get to work on time.

Tickets for the raffle of items donated by local merchants can be purchased at the entrance to the breakfast room, prior to the start of the breakfast. To sponsor a table, call Ms Studley at 203-426-3651.

The annual fundraising/thank you breakfast for Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut always draws a crowd. Guests mingle and visit prior to the start of the 2014 event at The Waterview in Monroe.
