To the Editor:

Families United in Newtown (FUN — a recreational program for families with special needs children created in memory of Tyler Jones) sponsored our third concert at the Newtown Congregational Church on May 16. The evening was a magical event celebrating movie tunes with 50 musicians donating their gift of music to over 200 guests. Thank you to all the performers for your beautiful talent so graciously offered. Special thanks are extended to Jodi DiPiazza and her parents (Michelle and Tom) for driving from New Jersey to support our cause!

Thanks to National Honors Society students for promoting the concert and providing child care for the event. Thank you Newtown Congregational Church for the use of your sanctuary and reception hall; Vicky Truitt and Steve Bennett for your hours of support. Thank you Kerri Williams for the adorable puzzle piece cookies, Denise Rodriguez’s “Sweet Creams and Dreams” fabulous cupcakes, Mary Imperioli’s delicious brownies and Lisa Bell’s “Bee Sweet” personalized puzzle piece cake. The reception was beautiful; the amazing confections delicious! Susan Corleto successfully organized donations again and the Nuelle family — technical wizards! Many thanks to our sponsors: Dylan’s Wings of Change, Connecticut Music Therapy Services, Artemis Landscape Architects, Dr Harvey Kliman, Dr Margaret Bauman, Dr Robert Murphy, Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, Butcher’s Best, Newtown Car Care Center, Hellostina Web Design Studio, the Southbury Knights of Columbus, Mark “Max” Swigart, Wesley Learning Center, The Gray School of Irish Dance, The Suzuki Talent Education School, B2B, Newtown Florist, Pemberley Designer Consignments, Phil Keane Photography, Photo & Art Works, Clown Pimentinah and Bobby D. Magician, Southbury Printing Centre (the best ever!!!) and Comfort Dogs Addie and Maggie and their handlers. Thanks to David Merrill for donating his signature Newtown art work and The Newtown Bee for supporting publicity. Patti Calderara deserves an award for the “Most Amazing Raffle Organizer” (and thank you raffle donators). Thanks to John Voket for his many outstanding skills and Miles Massicotte who is the most awesome pianist/musical director. Thanks to the music teachers who share their talents including Jane Matson for the NHS Chamber Choir! It takes a village to perform a Benefit Concert (and to raise a child afflicted with autism). Thank to everyone for your love and support!

Tyler was there in spirit, and smiling!
