Accepted Practice?
To the Editor:
Help me out here Newtown residents. I moved to Newtown in February and what I have gathered so far is that speed limits are not adhered to or enforced in this town; is this correct?
I live on Pine Tree Hill Road, the sign says 25 mph yet cars seem to whip up and down the road at 45â50 mph every day. I do see about 15 percent of the cars actually driving within a +/- 5 mph threshold (thank you to those folks), but everybody else just seems to do what they want.
Despite the blatant disregard for the posted limit, I have never seen a Newtown police officer actually attempting to enforce the limit. If you need a location to watch speeds, feel free to use my driveway.
I guess if this is the accepted practice, I will continue to dive off of the side of the road with my three dogs (one blind, one with three legs) while trying to take them for a walk each day.
