Highlights From Teacher Appreciation Week Around The District
A sign near the entrance to Newtown High School last week thanked the schoolâs teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week, which is nationally recognized during the first full week of May. Teachers and staff were treated to an appreciation breakfast on Monday, May 4, at 7 am by the schoolâs PTA.Â
The high school was not alone in hosting special events and posting special signs to thank the districtâs teachers and staff for their efforts; schools across the district celebrated the week individually.
The Newtown Middle School PTA hosted a brunch for teachers and staff on Thursday, May 7. Three tables worth of food and beverages waited for teachers in the teacher lounge. Also, the Student Council at the school ordered special pens among other efforts during the week.
The elementary schools also held special events for teachers during the week. As just one example, at Head Oâ Meadow Elementary School, flowers were gathered from students when they left their bus to be given to their teachers on Tuesday, May 5.
