On The Pitch — Girls’ And Boys’ Soccer Scores

U6

Mustangs vs Cheetahs: The Mustangs had goals by Angela Carriero, Kaitlyn King, Hannah Groonel and Karsen Pirone. Caroline Mahoney played great in goal and Katherine Dirga and Justine Rengilian controlled the defense for the Mustangs. The Cheetahs held their own with strong defensive play by Zoe Waller, Jane Shearin and and Julia Kanaan and strong goalkeeping by Mary Sortino and Mary Celentano. Bella DeLorenzo, Amanda Conrod, Hannah Ruhs, Casey Dunn and Olivia Oltran worked hard on offense to keep the game competitive.

Shooting Stars 2, Monkees 1: Katie Sailer and Simone Paradis each scored a goal for the Shooting Stars. Ally Toth and Julia Sullivan played well on offense, while Lindsey Gallagher and Maggie Sheridan secured the defense. For the Monkees, Emma Boland scored. Nathalie Schickendantz had her best game and Sarah Grant had a good overall game.

Irish 3, Lightning 1: For the Irish, Jenna Lavelle (2) and Grace Corcoran scored goals. Elizabeth Mawdsley played outstanding offensively and Priya Deraney played well on both sides of the ball. For the Lightning, Haley Harkins scored the lone goal with an assist by Sage Karp. Jenna Ehnot and Dani Otero were aggressive at midfield

Wolverines 1, Thundering Jaguars 1: Hana Rosenthal scored for the Wolverines. Kaysie Fisher and Olivia Bellagamba were both excellent on defense, while Caroline Viselli was strong on offense. For the T-Jags, Bella Jimenez netted the goal. Julia Haskins and Emma Stierle were good offensively, while Emila McGuinness Getzinger played well in goal.

U10

Killer Tigers 4, Lightning 0: The Killer Tigers were strong offensively with goals from Ali Manfredi, Grace Frost, Emily Neave and Mallory Lobuglio while Rachael DiCristina was stellar at midfield and Kayla Sippin commanded the defense. The Lightning was led by a strong overall performances by Chloe Rogalin and Taylor Clomiro. Alexia Badick continued to play well in goal.

Purple Penguins 6, Rockets 3: For the Purple Penguins, Stefanie Carr and Jessica Maturo each scored 2 goals with Diana Kirkman and Anna Biondi adding goals to lead the offense. Sophia Albano and Cecilia Schoeni each played great on defense with Danielle Mola securing the goal. The Rockets put forth a great effort during the second half with goals by Alexandra Manoni, Lauren Cirone, and Grace Svensen. Tremendous effort by Stephanie Haas in goal and Lena Litzenburgner leading offense during the second half.

Mustangs 2, Crushers 1: For the Crushers, Claire Beiter scored the lone goal. Kathryn Blanco, Chloe Blakeman and Julia Doyle were outstanding throughout the game. For the Mustangs, Grace Larsen and Natalie Shaker played a great game on offense and defense. Goals by Erin Tressler and Megan Goyda securedthe win for the Mustangs

U11

Comets 2  Westport 0 (State Cup game): Emily Charash and Katie Mossbarger tended goal in the shutout, while Victoria Kirkman worked feverishly on defense. Alana Murray and Alyssa Ruefenacht provided a strong midfield effort recording an assist and goal respectively. Brenna Kelly booted in a long range shot over the keeper for the insurance goal. Brittney Antous and Christina DeBartolomeo contributed solid offensive support.

Weston 2, Comets 0: In the second half, Mikayla Kuligowski and Quinn Karp sparked the offense while Julia Schoeni consistently held the  line at stopper, and Sarah Lyon picked up the slack on defense. Emily Charash and Katie Mossbarger shared time in goal once again.

Newtown 2, New Canaan 2: Brenna Kelly provided the scoring for the Comets with assists from Kimberly Brello and Alana Murray (corner kick). Solid midfield support came from Veronica Moyer while Madeline Sieber worked hard to protect the box. Alyssa Ruefenacht and Emily Charash played well in goal.

U12

Lightning 7, Portland 0 (State Cup game): The Lightning powered ahead in State Cup action with a decisive victory over Portland. Sarah Lynch had a hat-trick, and Raquel Crespo, Kate Fallon, Kelsey Muniz and Siena Cicarelli each scored. Cassie Fischer, Kailee Dunnigan and Lynch had assists. Fischer and Amy Martinelli had good all-around games in the midfield and Fallon and Cicarelli played well in goal.

Lightning 6, New Canaan 1: Sarah Lynch sparked the offense for the Lightning, netting her second hat-trick of the weekend. Meghan Korchman scored on a penalty kick, and Raquel Crespo and Kailee Dunnigan also had a goal apiece. Emily Riley displayed nice ball control as she helped maintain pressure on offense. Kate Fallon, Megan Weber and Kelsey Muniz were tough in the nets.

U14

Newtown Flash 3, Bridgeport 1: Persistant play by Katie Shirley and Lyndsey Pearlman set the stage for Stephanie Roman to get the scoring started with a goal early in the game. Bianca Solano and Meghan Harkins worked to set up Stephanie Roman for a goal. Maria Bondi, Julia Trudell, Kiely Kulligowski and Zoe Eggleson helped pave the way for Abby Blakeman setting up a Bianca Solano goal. Strong defensive efforts were demonstrated by Kyra Murry, Jilliana Ciamarra, Kelly Brooks and goalkeeper Emily Brisson.

Boys

U6

Red Bulls 3,LightningThunder 0: The Red Bulls had strong offensive perfomances from Duncan O’Leary, Ryan Farrell and John Ford. A stingy defense was led by Justin DeThomas, Will Tainter and Leander Adam. The LightningThunder were led on offense with outstanding efforts by Steven Cheh and Brayden Deraney. Ben Becker, Ryan Kovatch and Mack Berry all worked hard on the defensive end.

U8

Hawks 2, Super Shooters 2: Kyle Duval scored both goals for the Hawks, while Bobby Elston and Alex Delp contributed to a strong offense. Nick Weiland and Luke Fischer played solid overall games and Allen Xue had several nice saves in goal. For the Super Shooters, Thomas Briscoe scored both goals. Grant Moxham played a strong game on offense, while Ryan Horn and Ben Pinto anchored the defense. Goalies Forrest Anderson and Thomas Hartley turned back several shots.

U10

Spider Pigs 3, Flipping Fladoodles 0: The Spider Pigs had a balanced attack with goals by Ryan Brello, Eugene Citrano and Owen Samson, while Jack Lavelle also played a strong game on the offensive end. Defensively, Chris Buckly played a strong game while Brian Kerins and Christopher Russo combined on the shutout with a number of great saves in goal. For the Flipping Fladoodles, Kai Toomey and Jordan Klein played well in the midfield and Ian Klepacki, Christian Morlock and Cooper Buonocore played sold games on defense.

U12

Newtown White Lightning 1, Norwalk 1: Newtown was led by Michael Biancardi, Daniel Hamula, Carter Nordman and Raymond Xue sharing duties at striker. Michael Cook, Knute Johnson, Nathan Horvath and Jeremy Doski controlled the midfield. The defense was led by Ryan King, Will Swain, Kevin Droniak and Patrick Rowley. Peter Manfredonia made 10 saves in goal.
