Painting With A Knife

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have an oil painting demonstration done with a painting knife by Joan Jardine on Wednesday, May 27, at 1:30 pm. Her subject will be a landscape.

The program is open to all and will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown. Admission is free.

Joan Jardine is a native New Englander who has lived in different parts of the United States. As she put down temporary roots she continued to study numerous art forms both privately and at the university level. In addition to painting she mastered the art of silk screening, batik and faux finishing.

She acquired her passion for impressionist Plein Air painting when she studied at the Cape Cod School of Art on Cape Cod, Mass.

She is an elected artist member of Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Her recent awards include Woodstock School of Art Regional Exhibition, Third Place 2006; and an Award of Excellence in 2006 from the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society.

Her painting “Silo at Hunt Hill Farm” was chosen for the program cover of the 2004 Celebration of Connecticut Farms.

In addition to numerous one and two person shows, her paintings have been exhibited at The Norman Rockwell Museum and The Barnum Museum.

Refreshments will be served. Call 426-6654 for information.
