Youth Groups Planning For Summer Missions

Grace Christian Fellowship’s young adults from seventh grade through their senior year of high school are preparing for their 2009 summer mission trips. The middle school students will be going to Washington, D.C., July 26 to August 1, to work with Center for Student Missions, and the high school students will travel to Los Angeles, July 1–11, to work with Dream Center.

The teenagers will be involved in a number of projects, including but not limited to working in soup kitchens, helping at a Boys and Girls Club, running Vacation Bible School for low-income communities, reaching out and praying for runaway teens, adopt-a-block, and bus ministry.

The major purpose of these trips is to reach out and help and love people by giving of themselves in service to others.

The students are working hard to help raise the money needed for these trips, and have a pair of fundraisers coming up.

First is the church’s annual tag sale, which will be Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, from 9 am to 3 pm each day. The tag sale will be on the grounds of the church, 174 Mt Pleasant Road.

They will also host Popcorn Theater on June 6 and 7, again at the church. Performances will be 7 pm both nights and will feature a two-act called Attack of the Lake People.

Tickets are $15 adults and $10 students, and can be purchased at the door or reserved in advance; call 270-1005, extension 14. Ticket price includes beverages and refreshments.
