Truckers Fined More Than $10,800 For Violations
In a commercial truck enforcement project conducted on May 14, police inspected 14 trucks and found 63 violations of either safety rules or equipment regulations, resulting in the issuance of $10,807 in fines, police said.
That truck inspection project resulted in five trucks being taken out of service until violations could be corrected, according to police.
The police departmentâs two-member traffic unit and its commercial truck inspector worked with two state Department of Motor Vehicles inspectors on the project from 5 am to 1 pm. Trucks were inspected either at a parking lot off Trades Lane or at the Wasserman Way commuter parking lot for Exit 11 of Interstate 84.
Police plan to conduct more truck inspection projects in the future.
