Ashlar Hosting Weekly Bereavement Support Group

Beginning Tuesday, June 3, and every Tuesday through July 8, Ashlar of Newtown and Connecticut VNA will host a Bereavement Support Group that will be open to the community. Anyone who is grieving the death of a loved one and needs support and understanding to cope with the loss is urged to attend the free sessions, which will be held from 1 to 2:30 pm at Ashlar of Newtown, Masonicare’s skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility located at 139 Toddy Hill Road.

Cecilia Baranowski, RSM, D.MIN, a bereavement coordinator with Connecticut VNA, the state’s largest home health and hospice care organization, and Anne Julie DeNicola, MSW, a social worker at Ashlar of Newtown, will facilitate the six, 90-minute sessions. The topics to be covered include:

June 3 — Group Process, Grief, Mourning, Reconciliation

June 10 — Communication with Family and Friends

June 17 — Pain & Sadness/Confrontation and Escape

June 24 — Caring for Yourself

July 1 — Anger and Guilt

July 8 — Reconciliation
