TWO ICONIC VAN GOGH WORKS WILL OPEN AT YALE ART GALLERY JUNE 15

avv/gs set 4/30 #737685

NEW HAVEN, CONN. — The Yale University Art Gallery will present “Van Gogh’s Cypresses and The Starry Night: Visions of Saint-Remy,” on view June 15–September 7.

The Yale University Art Gallery will exhibit two of Vincent van Gogh’s most renowned paintings, “Cypresses” (Metropolitan museum of Art, New York) and “The Starry Night” (Museum of Modern Art, New York), side by side for the first time.

Completed in June 1889, during his yearlong confinement at the asylum in Saint-Remy, these two paintings exemplify the work of this modern master at the height of his creativity. Together, “Cypresses” and “The Starry Night” reveal the artist’s vivid and tender vision of Saint-Remy as he observed the French countryside from his window — by day and through the night.

The gallery is at 1111 Chapel Street. For more information, 203-432-0600 or www.artgallery.yale.edu.
