NHS ’78 Reunion Being Planned

Members of Newtown High School’s Class of 1978 are planning a clambake to celebrate the 30th anniversary of graduation. The reunion event is scheduled to take place Saturday, June 28, at Short Beach in Stratford.

The event will run from noon until 8 pm, and all members of the graduating class are invited.

Tickets are $50 per person and include appetizers of shrimp cocktail, steamers and clam chowder, main entrée (choices are lobster, steak, swordfish, or chicken) and sides of corn on the cob, boiled red potatoes, coleslaw, dinner rolls, and watermelon. Additional lobsters are $10 each, and additional steak, chicken, or swordfish are $8 each.

An open bar offering soda, mixers, water, beer, wine and Sangria will run from 1 to 7 pm, with mixed drinks available for $4 each.

Ongoing activities will include swimming, volleyball, tennis, basketball, and plenty of socializing and catching up.

Those planning to attend should note in advance that reunion tickets do not cover the cost of the $10 per car entrance fee charged at the beach. There is no limit on the number of people per car, however, so carpooling is being suggested.

Reservations are due by May 31. Contact Jodee Parkinson at JDP3690@yahoo.com or 203-381-0499.
