Travel Girls U13
Newtown Flash 6, Westport 3 â Neither rain, mud or a lengthy interruption in the game hampered the drive of the Newtown Flash against Westport. Lindsay Jossick racked up four goals, along with one a piece for Lyndsey Perlman and Stephanie Roman. Jilliana Ciamarra , Lydia Beiter, and Stephanie Roman got assists. Katie Shirley and Kelly Brooks played forcefully on defense along with Emily Brisson in goal.
Travel Girls U12
Newtown Jaguars 1, Darien 1 â On a wet and rainy afternoon, the Jaguars battled an undefeated Darien team down to the wire. Karlie Kuligowski was outstanding in goal. Tess Murray played a perfect cross into the box where Gabby DeBartolomeo knocked it home for the score. Taylor Brady controlled the midfield and Taylor Zingaro cleaned up any breakaways from the sweeper position.

Lightning 2, Fairfield 1 (State Cup) â In a tightly fought contest against a well-organized Fairfield team, the U11 girls rallied for a victory in State Cup action. Sarah Lynch led the offensive effort, scoring both goals for the Lightning. Siena Cicarelli played well in the midfield, and Meaghan Brophy, and Dale Shearin anchored the D. Kate Fallon and Cicarelli were tough in goal, each making several key saves.
Girls U10
Comets 4, Wilton 2 â The Comets showed another balanced scoring attack with a goal and assist from each of four players including Alana Murray, Casey Harkins, Alyssa Ruefenacht, and Kelsey Muniz. Nice defensive hustle came from Sarah Lyon and Julia Schoeni, and Emily Charash and Katie Mossbarger shared time in goal.
Comets 6, New Canaan 2 â A strong offensive showing brought goals from Brenna Kelly, Casey Harkins, Mikayla Kuligowski, and a hat trick from Kelsey Muniz along with assists from Kuligowski, Portia Baudisch, Harkins, and a pair from Kim Brello. Haley Trudell contributed well at midfield, while Alana Murray and Katie Mossbarger provided some tough defense. Mossbarger also contributed a difficult save during her time in goal, and Emily Charash minded the net as well.
Funky Monkeys 2, Super Shooters 2 âThe goals were scored by Jenna Hansen and Tonya Tucker for the Super Shooters. Geralyn Klein and Amanda Albenesi played a strong midfield game. Katerina Ringes was a force on defense. Goals by Anna Biondi for the Funky Monkeys. Strong midfield, Noelle Veillette. Good effort in goal by Margaret Elkins. Strong defense by Kayleigh Shambelan  Girls U6
Cheetahs 3, Tigers 0 â Izzy Mawdsley, Ally Tassiello, and Kristen Cirone each booted in a goal for the Cheetahs, while Carolina Stubbs played well on defense. Tess Hubbard, Angella Kousidis, Sage Karp, and Moira McKinley all played great for the Tigers.
Travel Boys U11
Newtown White Lightning 3, Fairfield 2 â Newtown came out strong and stunned Fairfield by scoring within the first minute of the game. In an impressive play, Luca Imbimbo started with the ball at midfield and made a great pass to Ryan King who dribbled around a defender and was able to connect a pass to Clay Gattey, who was breaking towards the goal and kicked it in. The next score at the end of the half was off a Kaj Djonne corner kick which Clay knocked in to put Newtown up 2-0. Newtownâs final goal came early in the second half when Jeremy Doski hit a header that bounced right in front of the net and Clay was there to tip it in to complete the hat trick. Michael Biancardi and Anthony Vournazos were great on offense creating several plays to keep the pressure on Fairfieldâs defense. Graham Hubbert and Constant Gregoire passed well in the midfield. Dillon WIkramnanyake, Nathyn Horvath, and Kevin Droniak were the stoppers on defense.
Travel Boys U10
Wilton 4, Strikers 1 â Bryce Mather scored the lone goal late in the second half of the game against Wilton, the Strikersâ first defeat of the spring season. The loss came despite strong defensive efforts from Paul OâLeary, Michael OâKeefe, and Thomas Gavel in goal. Alex Gerbo and Tyler Dullinger played well at both ends of the field for Newtown.
Boys U6 Rec
Tigers 3, Pirates 0 â Tigersâ goals were scored by Brendan Smith and Kyle Duval. Will Pelisson had a nice assist, and an exciting save in goal. Jacob Goldstein and Jacob Clements both played strong games. For the Pirates, Max Bloomquist, Eric Moore, and Kyle Nicholson played well for their hard-working team and had great all-around games.
