Performance Of Song And Dance

Will Benefit Abbey’s Theater

BETHLEHEM — On Saturday, June 7, from 7:30 to 10 pm, The Gary-The Olivia Performing Arts Center at the Abbey of Regina Laudis will present “A Little Summer Night Music,” an evening of song and dance to benefit the theater, a theatrical tradition in northwest Connecticut that has been entertaining and enriching audiences for over twenty years.

This special event will include performances from past productions at The Gary-The Olivia Theater such as My Fair Lady (2005), The Music Man (2006), Fiddler on the Roof (2007), and the much anticipated 2008 production of West Side Story.

After the performance, guests will enjoy artisan made cheeses and wines from the Northeast region and an opportunity to meet the evening’s performing artists.

Built in 1982 through the help of actress Patricia Neal, the open-air theater seats 300 people. Past productions range from Shakespeare to Sartre and from opera to musical theater. Recent performances have included Love Letters starring Patricia Neal and James Douglas and She Stoops to Conquer, directed by Pirie MacDonald.

The Gary-The Olivia Performing Arts Center is a new, nonprofit performing arts organization presenting, promoting and fostering excellence in the performing arts through theatrical productions and educational workshops at The Gary-The Olivia Theater on the grounds of the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem.

Tickets are $85 per person and are available online at TheGaryTheOlivia.com. Additional information is also available by calling call 203-273-5669.

Event proceeds will go toward sound and lighting upgrades and for the overall maintenance of The Gary - The Olivia Theater.
