Silent Auction Benefits New Pound
Silent Auction Benefits New Pound
To the Editor:
A silent auction to benefit âA New Pound for Newtownâ culminated on Sunday, May 18, at The Inn at Newtown. Twenty-five fabulous donations from Newtown residents and establishments were up for bid. Over $2,000 was raised for the much needed new facility.Â
Our current pound is at maximum capacity with 12 dogs and 12 cats. Last week, the water pump broke. Water had to be brought down to the facility by truck and all the kennels were washed âby handâ each day with buckets of water. Toilets needed to be flushed in the same manner as well as washing of all equipment.
The deed for the new facility is in the process of being transferred. We hope that groundbreaking can begin soon.
Thanks go out to the Inn at Newtown for hosting this event. Their hospitality and good wishes in supporting âA New Poundâ is much appreciated.
I would like to thank all the IPN members and friends who helped organize all the incredible items.
I would like to express my appreciation to Gianine Crowell for her time and talent who worked tirelessly with me to organize this event.
Many thanks also to all the people who supported this endeavor in many other ways and who came out this weekend to help. We are all grateful to the many, many people who came out to bid on the items. Without their support, this would not have happened.Â
