Timothy Cardoso of Sandy Hook was one of 450 members of the University of Maine at Farmington’s 2008 graduating class, which celebrated its commencement ceremony on May 17. Timothy earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Croy Carlin, a resident of Newtown, was one of 2,656 students to earn fall 2007 semester Dean’s List honors from the University of Maine’s eight colleges.

Doug Calderone was recently awarded The Christina Holtorf Memorial Award for his achievements in fine arts. Doug is a student at Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y.

Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., held its 14th commencement on Saturday, May 17, and among its graduates was Heidi M. Ekstrom of Newtown, who earned a bachelor of science in business administration, finance.

Francesca Piscitelli, a junior business and psychology major at Lycoming College, Williamsport, Penn., was among the 420 Lycoming College students named to Dean’s List for the spring 2008 semester. Francesca is a resident of Newtown and a graduate of Newtown High School.

Lauren Ross, a resident of Sandy Hook and a member of the Class of 2008 at Providence College, was recently inducted into the college’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society for history. Lauren is pursuing a degree in history.

Cleo Schmitt, a Newtown resident, was named to the 2007 fall semester dean’s list at Simmons College in Boston. Cleo is a freshman at Simmons and has yet to declare her major.

Ryan L. Silveira of Sandy Hook has been awarded an L. Marie Heard Education Scholarship from the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED). The scholarship is awarded to individuals affected by an ectodermal dysplasia syndrome for their scholastic achievements, community service, and extracurricular accomplishments. Ryan will be a freshman at Ithaca College in the fall and plans to study music education.

Sophomores Craig Baldino and Megan Meier and freshman Nicole Nonnenmacher were all named to the Principal’s Honor Roll at St Joseph’s High School in Trumbull for the third marking period. The students are residents of Newtown.

Shane Blomberg and Jessica Halloran, both of Newtown, were named to the Dean’s List at Savannah College of Art and Design for winter quarter 2008. Shane is an Industrial Design major and Jessica is an illustration major at the school, located in Savannah, Ga.

Mchael Compagnoni of Newtown and Katherine Hoolehan of Sandy Hook were among the 444 students to graduate from Albion College, in Albion, Mich., on May 10.

Michael graduated magna cum laude, receiving a degree in political science, with a concentration in the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service. He is the son of Charles and Maureen Compagnoni of Newtown, and a graduate of Newtown High School.

Katherine received a degree in English with a minor in political science. She is the daughter of Christopher and Elizabeth Hoolehan of Sandy Hook, and also a graduate of Newtown High School.

The honor roll for the fourth marking period at Canterbury School in New Milford includes Lisa Favicchia of Sandy Hook, who achieved Highest Honors; Briana Berg of Newtown, High Honors; and Brendan Buzaid of Newtown, Honors.

Mary C. Gover, Rasul Hafizov, and Kathleen I. Sharnick, all of Newtown, have been named to Dean’s List for the fall 2007 semester at Connecticut College. The students are all freshmen at the New London school.

Bentley College’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Robert D. Galliers and Dean of Arts and Science Catherine Davy recently named the President’s List for the school’s 2007 semester. Zachary Lyon of Newtown, a junior majoring in economics-finance, and Christopher Meier, also of Newtown, a freshmen majoring in finance, were both honored by the Waltham, Mass., college.
