Hollister House Garden Open
For Limited Public Visits
WASHINGTON â George Schoellkopf and the board of directors of Hollister House Garden, 300 Nettleton Hollow Road, invite the public to visit the garden this spring and summer.
The garden will be open on the first and third Saturdays of each month, through September, from 8 to 10 am and 3 to 6 pm. A $2 donation is requested for the gardenâs permanent endowment fund.
This romantic country garden, highly structured in plan but informally arranged, displays an exuberant abundance of both common and exotic plants in subtle, and sometimes surprising, color combinations. The garden continues to grow and exhibits the evolving interests of a seasoned gardener.
Situated on a sloping hill behind an 18th Century rambling farmhouse, high walls and hedges divide separate garden rooms and open to create appealing vistas of the landscape.
Hollister House Garden is a preservation project of The Garden Conservancy and is hosting the current recipient of the Marco Polo Stufano Garden Conservancy Fellowship, Tessa Izenour, who is assisting with garden maintenance and documentation.
Additional opportunities to visit Hollister House Garden will occur during an Open Days program on Saturday, June 17, from 3 to 6 pm. Admission to the garden during the Open Days Program is $5.
The garden is also open by appointment. Call 860-868-0163 for directions or additional information.
