Lions Send Off Latest Set Of Care Packages
The Newtown Lions did a second mailing of Care Packages to residents serving as active duty personnel in the Mideast this week. Twelve packages were sent to individuals in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan.
âThe sending of these packages is the Newtown Lionsâ way of saying âThank Youâ to all of these brave individuals who are serving all of us in Newtown and the entire country,â said Lions Club member Wayland Johnson. âThe troops are appreciated by all Newtown residents.â
Most items in the care packages have been requested by the troops.
âThere may be a couple of surprises, at least it is hoped they are surprised,â Mr Johnson added.Â
The Lions will do the next care package mailings in September or October. If any Newtown resident has information of an active duty troop who is not receiving a care package from the Newtown Lions, contact Wayland Johnson at 426-5418.
Care packages are sent to Newtown residents or a relative of a Newtown resident.
