Senior Gold
Newtown 13, Ridgefield âAâ 2 â Meghan Bridges scored four goals while Kaitlin Brophy and Kaley Kruger added three apiece to lift Newtown to a bounce-back win after suffering their first loss. Lisa Vendel scored two and Maggie Korth added a solo. Steph Suhoza, Meghan Gibbons, Meredith LaPerch and Annie Fletcher powered the D and Jill Jagoe was solid in the cage with six saves.
Newtown 10, Fairfield Wakeman 7 â Meghan Bridges scored four goals and Kaitlin Brophy added three to lift Newtown past Fairfield Wakeman. Lisa Vendel scored twice and Katie Canavan once. Brittany Wiberg was great in the midfield as Jill Jagoe had six tough saves and was helped on defense by Sam Dinnan, Steph Suhoza, Annie Fletcher, Rachel Fatse, and Meredith LaPerch.
Longmeadow Jamboree

The Newtown Senior Girls Gold swept the field at the Longmeadow Jamboree in Longmeadow, Massachusetts with wins over Northhampton (9-6), Somers (11-2), South Hadley (9-4) and Longmeadow Red (6-1). Katie Canavan, Nicole Waterhouse, Kaley Kruger, Kara Brown and Liz Emerson led the attack as Jill Jagoe was strong in the goal. On the day, Lisa Vendel led the team in ground balls with 10, while Kaley Kruger, Kaitlin Brophy and Meghan Bridges led the team in assists.
Junior Girls
Darien âAâ 9, Newtown 9 â With no prior practice and playing together for the first time, Newtown tied Darien in a heavy downpour. Christina Gould, Riley Wurtz and Molly Mahony scored two goals apiece while Rachel Hyland, Kaitlin VosWinkle and Katelyn Kean added solos. Meredith Bridges and Meaghan Knox sparkled on defense as Hyland, VosWinkle and Wurtz combined to scoop 23 ground balls.
Bantam
New Milford 5, Newtown 3 â Carley Ferris, Veronica Webb and Anna Northrop scored the goals but Newtown fell to New Milford. Maura Carroll had a strong effort in the cage while Emily Maher led the defense and collected numerous ground balls.

Senior Gold
Newtown 10, Weston âAâ 3 â Andrew Golankiewicz had two goals, an assist, and seven ground balls and Kyle OâConnor had a goal, two assists and six ground balls to lead Newtown in a key CONNY match-up against a Weston team that boasted two players on the CT U-15 team heading to the US Lacrosse Festival at Disney World. Andrew Hyland made six saves in goal and the defensive unit of Ryan Lasher, Connor McNamara and Chris Gregory played great.
Newtown 9, New Milford Silver 3 â Tim Dalton had two goals and an assist and Jeff DiNicola had eight ground balls and an assist to lead Newtown to the win. Andrew Hyland made seven saves in goal. Cam Gehrman scored two goals and Kyle OâConnor had six ground balls and two assists as Andrew Golankiewicz (six ground balls), Ben Mahony (nine shots and five ground balls) and Kevin OâConnell each scored unassisted goals. Lewis Thompson scored a goal. The hustle of Zach Dent at midfield and Chris Gregory at close defense was instrumental in the win.
Senior Blue
Newtown 13, Bethel âBâ 2 â Danny Clement had three goals and an assist as Newtown was in control from the start. Shane Wurtz and Kevin Brown each had a goal and two assists while Brandon Bennett and Ryan Bienkowski each had two goals. Kevin Faust had a goal and an assist and was a force at midfield. Tyler Davenport and Tyler Reszoly each had a goal while Ted Levine and Josh Gilbert each had an assist.
Senior White
Newtown 8, New Fairfield 1 â After a slow start, Newtown tallied seven unanswered goals for the win. Joe Pieretti, Jeremy Schaniel and Brandon Body (nine saves in goal) kept New Fairfield off the scoreboard for three quarters as Ryan Korth (3 goals) and Will Northrop (3 goals, assist) led the offensive effort. Dan Sclafani (goal) and CJ Ryan (goal, assist) helped power the offense. Connor Byrne and Mike Zaccaro each contributed an assist while Colby Summerlin and Zach LeMein combined for 12 ground balls.
Newtown 7, Weston âBâ 4 â Newtown won its sixth straight game as CJ Ryan (3 goals, 2 assists) and Mike Zaccaro (2 goals) provided the offense along with single tallies from Will Northrop and Ryan Korth. Scott Wexler, Sean Maher and Tom Murphy had outstanding games at midfield. Dave Kreshpan and Max Nacewicz played strong defense in front of goalie Brandon Body (7 saves).
Junior Gold
Newtown 6, Trumbull âAâ 5 â With only a few seconds remaining in regulation, Danny Hebert (one goal, one assist) whipped a hard bounce shot that found the upper corner of the net for the game-winner at Trumbull. Justin Spath made 11 saves in goal, and James Marusi played superbly at close defense. Trey Trudell (one assist) controlled the midfield, scooping nine ground balls and playing an excellent end-to-end game. Brendan McNamara provided extra scoring punch with two goals and an assist. Michael Lord and Cory Fisher each scored goals, and Colin Morris pumped in a goal and had an assist. Justin Brophy added an assist.
Newtown 16, Bethel 0 â Brendan McNamara scored four goals and Colin Morris provided five assists to lead Newtown to the win. Justin Brophy scored three goals and had one assist as Michael Lord scored three goals and james Marusi had a goal and two assists. Will Fletcher had a goal and an assist, Ryan Brown scored two goals and single assists were added by Kevin Dennis, Chris Tenney, and Trey Trudell. Phil Reynolds and Justin Spath each scored a goal.
Junior Blue
Newtown 4, Litchfield Hills 2 â Jake Enriquez scored two goals and Jacob Newtown-Tanzer scooped up nine ground balls in the win. Pat Capozziello and Graham Derrickson each scored a goal and Nicholas Shannon had an assist. Evan Isaacs made five saves in the cage. Stefan Dullinger had seven ground balls as defenders Jack Kearney and Wyatt Depuy combined to pick up 12 loose balls and picked off several Litchfield passes to keep possession for Newtown.
Newtown 10, Brookfield 3 â Patrick Capozziello, Jacob Newton-Tanzer, Connor Quinn, Jake Enriquez, Parker Rodbell, Evan Isaacs and Thomas Bauer all scored to lead Newtown past Brookfield. Graham Derrickson, Stefan Dullinger and Michael Cascone played well.

BOYS
Trojans 16, Bruins 12 â Nick Fatse had five goals and two assists and Tyler Hanley added three goals and three assists in the win over the Bruins. Colin Morris scored twice and assisted on two others, Matt Sharpe had three goals, Michael Cascone had a pair of goals, and Owen Bowler chipped in with a goal.Daniel Hebert led the Bruins with four goals and three assists, Pat Cappoziello had four goals, Nate Coleman added a pair, Mike Fitzsimons and Parker Rodbell added goals, and Chase Hutchinson contributed a pair of assists.
Huskies 11, Wildcats 6 â Brendan McNamara had three goals and two assists and Jacob Newtown-Tanzer had a hat trick to lead the Huskies over the Wildcats. Brandon Cusmano and Tom Bauer had two goals and an assist each, Justin Brophy had a goal and an assist, and Trey Trudell contributed a goal to round out the scoring. Kevin Dennis led the Wildcats with three goals, Stefan Dullinger added two goals and an assist, and Jacob Enriquez chipped in with a goal. Dennis and Sam Molloy stopped nine shots for the Wildcats.
