Creative Mailing 15, Newtown Insurance 3 – Alex Caracciolo went 3-for-3 and catcher Sabrina Yudelson collected two hits and threw out a runner attempting to steal to lead Creative Mailing to the win. Cynthia Reynolds, Emily Krewson and Ashley Kuligowski collected hits while Daria Maruschak scored three runs. For Newtown Insurance, Hannah Basch-Gould played great defensively at first. Kristen Errico and Lyndi Szabo had a solid hits and Amanda Nealy and Brittany Clark pitched well.

Creative Mailing 6, PJ’s Laundromat 5 – Ashley Kuligowski ripped a RBI single while Alex Caracciolo, Kathy Townsend, and Shannon McCarthy also singled to lead Creative Mailing. Kaitlin Marsden and Kate Bowen (11 strikeouts) combined on the mound while Bowen added a double for the cause. For PJ’s Rachael Ruiz tripled and singled as Emily Dutt collected a pair of hits. Tracy Dunn and Brittany Clarke each had singles.

JP Maguire Associates 17, Brookfield Dental 15 – Nicole Escoda and Christina LaValla sparked the offense and Rachael Marlin was solid on the mound as JP Maguire secured the win. Katie Holroyd played well in the field. For Brookfield Dental, Ashley Christiano pitched well as Kelly Burton was solid behind the dish. Callie Koch doubled twice and Hannah DeFlumeri singled twice to pace the offense.

Keno Graphics 17, Rich’s Keys & Locks 13 – Ali Kennedy smashed a grand slam and Nicole Rotante had two hits to lead Keno. Kelly Ann McCarthy was solid at third base as pitcher Erin Begg whiffed six batters in two innings of work. For Rich’s, Rhea Schneider and Dianna Carozza each did a great job behind the plate while Jenna Poeltl and Jessica Lynch scored two runs apiece. Katie Appley drove in two runs.

Carminuccio’s 7, Keno Graphics 6 – Carlie Gehrman and Natalie Dunn both doubled while Lauren Cody, Karly Olivera and Christina Caporelli all singled to lead Carminuccio’s Pizza to a tight win over Keno Graphics. Ali Kennedy and Megan Duero pitched well while Katie and Jessica Fossum hit well to lead Keno.

Newtown Hardware 11, My Place Pizza 6 – Allie Jones slapped a two-run single made some good plays at second to spark Newtown Hardware to the win. Michelle Margait and Sarah Pettinelli each drove in two runs on big hits as well. For My Place, Molly Ritter, Abby Keough and Marissa Chappell all hit hard while Lydia Post played well at shortstop.

Union Savings 10, Carminuccio’s 6 – Marissa Cassela doubled and drove in two runs, Aria Brownell doubled and singled and Linnea Pearson and Shannon Barra played well in the field to lead Union Savings to the win. For Carminuccio’s, Caitlin Dowling, Christina Caporale, Caitlin Cocivi and Natalie Dunn all drove in runs.

My Place Pizza 12, Rich’s Keys & Locks 10 – Lydia Post had a two-run double and Erin Ferris made a great catch in the outfield to lead My Place Pizza. Colleen Durkin also had a hit and scored three times and Marilyn Lacroce pitched two strong innings. For Rich’s, Megan Gibbons banged out three hits and drove in five runs. Dianna Carozza, Jenna Bonaccorso and Jessica Lynch also hit hard.

My Place Pizza 8, Carminuccio’s 2 – Ashley Cirone, Nora Murphy and Marilyn LaCroce got together on a solid pitching effort to lead My Place. Murphy added a two-run single and Abby Keough contributed two hits. Carminuccio’s got good defensive play from Juliana Sclafani, Natalie Dunn and Christina Caporale. Caporale also contributed two RBI.

Student

MasterCard International versus Schneider Van Lines – Emma D’Avola, Carly Cohane, and Colleen McCarthy had strong hits for MasterCard as Molly Begg and Jillian Gibney both pitched well.

Travel Tryouts

The Newtown Babe Ruth Softball League will hold travel team tryouts for U14 and U16 players on Saturday, June 3, at Fairfield Hills. Attendance is mandatory for all players hoping to make a team. U14 players will try out at 10 am while U16 players will try out at 12 noon.

If you cannot attend the scheduled tryout you must call Nancy Bowen, travel director, at 426-7101.
