Alberta Botsford Twist

Descendent Of

Newtown Settlers

Alberta Botsford Twist, 90, of Sandy Hook, died May 19 at her home. Ms Twist was born November 11, 1918, in Bridgeport, daughter of Edward W. and Mary Botsford Twist.

 She was a descendant of Henry and Elizabeth Botsford, original settlers of Milford, in 1639 and who went on to settle Newtown in the early 1700s. Ms Twist was a proud member of the Mary Silliman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Bridgeport, holding chapter and state offices. She was also a former member of the Connecticut Chapter of the Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America.

She is survived by several cousins.

Graveside services were held May 22, at Zoar Cemetery.
