âYou will survive the upcoming teen years,â Assistant Principal Anthony Salvatore said to the audience after going over answers to frequently asked questions received from parents of Reed students.
He said music is a big question, and added that a student can change their decision on which instrument to play during the first two weeks of school.
District Director of Music Michelle Hiscavich talked to parents during the orientation further about what they can expect.

Ms Hiscavich said the music department tries to suit every studentsâ needs, adding, âStudents who are successful are the ones who go home and do the work, obviously.â
Reed Intermediate library/media specialist Virginia Snowden explained that students will visit the schoolâs library once every six days. âItâs a really exciting time in their life,â she said, because they are learning to read for the sake of learning new things.
School Principal Donna Denniston, who will be retiring at the end of the school year, also greeted parents during the night. âThere are so many phenomenal things to tell you about Reed,â Ms Denniston said.
Ms Denniston explained that Reed Intermediate School opened in January 2003, and she had the opportunity to be a part of it then.

Before parents were taken to view classrooms, Dr Salvatore said that if parents have questions, to contact the school early, and they are happy to help.
