Coffee And Commitment
Coffee And Commitment
To the Editor:
The weather was beautiful and in spite of high gas prices, BSA Troop 370 served over 1,800 cups of coffee and cold beverages to travelers over this holiday weekend.
Troop 370 is proud of their long tradition of serving free coffee and donuts to travelers on Memorial Day weekends. The tradition is one of the troopâs community service projects that includes every scout and their family serving at least one four-hour shift serving coffee and maintaining the tent and supplies. Many scouts commit to more than one shift and quite a few are on duty in the lonely hours of the night and early morning. It is those late night shifts that are probably most valuable to the drivers on the highway.
This service project would not be possible without the continued support of members of our community, local businesses, and the dedication of the members of our troop for which the committee is very grateful.
We would like to thank and acknowledge the following for their support: Andreaâs Bakery, Associated Refuse, Bagel Delight, The Big Y, The Blue Colony Diner, Chartwells School Dining Services, Costco, Dunkinâ Donuts-Newtown, Dunkinâ Donuts-Monroe, Donut Inn-Monroe, Friendly Service Station-Citgo of Newtown, Katherineâs Kitchen, Kesco Electric, Mobil Station-Newtown, Pizza Palace, Mr Richards, Mr Edwards, Mr Kimball, Stew Leonardâs, Stop & Shop-Newtown, and The Town of Newtown: Building Department, Health Department, Park and Recreation, and the Highway Department.
