Teacher, Friend
Elizabeth âB.J.â Geerer, 75, of Redondo Beach, Calif., and formerly of Newtown, died May 23 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 1, 1932, in Balboa, Panama, to James and Elizabeth (Roberts) Kenealy.
She is survived by her husband, John Geerer of Brownsville, Vt.; her daughters, Kate Sclafani and her husband, Louis, of Newtown, and Ellen Geerer of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; her sons, Captain Kurt Geerer and his wife, Lucy, of Louisville, Ky., and John Geerer, Jr, and his wife, Christine, of Harrison Township, Mich.; eight beloved grandchildren, Will Geerer, Jack and Beth Geerer, and Diana, Melonie, Danny, Jane, and John Sclafani; and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her loving sister, Patricia Scovel of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and her brother, Jim Kenealy of Toluca Lake, Calif.
In addition to her parents, Mrs Geerer was predeceased by her beloved baby, Blaise Roberts Geerer; and her wonderful brother, Barry Kenealy.
Mrs Geerer was a resident of Newtown for 30 years. She was a teacher at Newtown Middle School who was known for her compassion and quick wit. She was active in Meals On Wheels and Hospice for many years. She was a great conversationalist and caring friend. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 31, in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
