Nutrition Expert Speaks To NAMI

FAIRFIELD — Marilyn Ricci, MS, RD, will be the speaker at the First Wednesday of the Month Speaker Meeting held by NAMI Fairfield on June 4 from 7:30 to 9 pm, in the Eliot Room Library, First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road.

Ms Ricci has a master’s degree in community nutrition and is a registered dietitian. When her son became ill with schizophrenia she became interested in the nutrition issues of the illness and medications.

She has presented at the NAMI national convention as well as to several affiliates. Her presentation will cover: nutrition monitoring protocol for patients on atypical antipsychotics; neurotransmitters, diet and behavior; and metabolic syndrome. Plenty of time will be available for questions.

NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Its goals are to support those living with mental illness and their loved ones, to provide educational programs to the community that foster understanding and healthy living, and to provide advocacy.

The meeting is free of charge and open to all. Light refreshments will be served. For more information call 203-650-3463.
