*Fatherâs Day Craft: Marie Walker will conduct a Fatherâs Day craft workshop on Saturday, June 7, from 1-2 pm, in the childrenâs story hour room for children ages 6 and up.
Sign up at the childrenâs desk to make something special for dad or grandpa. A $3 material fee is due upon registration; no phone registrations will be accepted.
*Summer Reading Kick-Off and Childrenâs Book Sale: The official start of the Booth Libraryâs Summer Reading program will be Wednesday, June 25. This independent reading program is open to children ages 4 through grade 5. Sign up is ongoing throughout the eight-week program that offers children an opportunity to discuss what they are reading with a young adult volunteer and earn rewards donated by local businesses.
The Friends of the Library Childrenâs Book Sale will take place from 9:30 am until 3 pm on the 25th. Stock up for summer reading at bargain prices. There will also be magic shows by Full Effect Productions at 11 am and 1 pm. Pick up your free ticket on the morning of the performance at the childrenâs circulation desk.Â
Adult Programs
*Book Sale Is Coming Back: The Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale will return in July with more than 120,000 items in over 80 categories.
Mark the dates for this yearâs sale, which will return the weekend after Independence Day: July 12-16 at Reed Intermediate School. Admission for Saturday, July 12, will be $10 from 9 am to noon (numbered admission tickets will go on sale that morning at 7), and then $5 from noon to 5 pm.
There is no charge for the remainder of the sale, which will also be 9 am to 5 pm Sunday through Tuesday day. Book will be half price on Monday, $5 per bag on Tuesday, and then free on Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm, when the volunteers put a wrap on the sale.
*Book Nook Notes: Find books for Dad in The Book Nook! Donât forget to check the well-priced new and nearly new titles in the Friends of Booth Libraryâs Book Nook on the main floor. Treat the man in your life to a great read or match his interests to one of our many non-fiction selections.
*Come Play Chess at the Library!
US Chess Federation Candidate Master Glenn Budzinski has started hosting chess games for all levels each Saturday at the library. Sets and boards will be provided each afternoon from 1 to 5 pm.
There are no fees or registration. Just come and play.
