The 40th Annual Newtown Soccer Club’s Memorial Day Tournament unfolded over the course of two days and included 98 teams from the area during the weekend. Girls’ teams were welcomed on Saturday and the boys’ teams on Sunday.
They represented six age groups each playing on 12 fields throughout town. Newtown had several squads that went unbeaten or won most of their games. Each team played four games during a busy day of goals, saves, and slide tackles on the pitch. The participants were treated to cooler temperatures this year after a hot tourney last spring.
