The Newtown Hawks 10U Blue baseball team went 4-0 in a the 5th Annual Memorial Day Patriotic Bash in Mansfield, Mass. Despite not getting the chance to compete in the championship game due to weather, the Hawks secured a second-place finish based on tie-breaker rules — an outcome that didn’t reflect their undefeated performance on the field.

The weekend opened with a 12-4 win over Brigade Baseball. Brayden Andrews set the tone at the plate, earning Player of the Game honors with a double, an RBI single, and a sacrifice fly. Jacob Steeves delivered on the mound and at first base, recording a couple of strikeouts and several key defensive plays.

In Game two, the Hawks’ offense exploded in a 21-4 rout of Clubhouse. Parker Esposito led the way with three hits and multiple RBIs, earning Player of the Game honors. Baer Rangel drove in a run with a solid single, Jack Fregoe had a multi-hit game and scored twice, and James Otis added a single, a double, and closed the game with a shutout inning on the mound.

Game three featured the most dramatic finish of the weekend, as Chase Pacuk delivered a walk-off single to lift Newtown to an 11-10 win over Ocean State; he earned Player of the Game honors. Luke Dobson sparked the early offense with a double and a single, and Grayson Kohlasch added a base hit and contributed key defensive plays at second base.

The Hawks closed out their undefeated run with a 14-5 win over GBG Northeast. Maverick Levy capped off a strong weekend with a clutch double and two runs scored to earn Player of the Game. Joey Skura capped things off with a two-run single in the final inning and played a strong game in the field.

With every player stepping up throughout the weekend, the Hawks proved just how deep and dangerous the lineup can be. While the weather cut the weekend short, the Hawks’ play left no doubt — They proved to be one of the top contenders, both on paper and on the field among 15 teams in their division.
