Finding A New Friend
Finding A New Friend
To the Editor:
I have been reading âSnapshotsâ for the last 13 years, and while most are portraits of very compassionate, contributing people, I must say that the write-up on Dot Wenblad is the most poignant Iâve ever read. What a remarkable woman! And, think of how many children she has impressed and affected in those 37 years!
Teachers of her depth, intelligence, common sense, and joie de vivre are precious treasures. I am moved by her philosophy on life, her unstinting love for teaching, and her refreshing, nonclichéd articulation. Even though we are not acquainted, I feel as though I have a new friend. I have found a colleague who embraces much of my own teaching philosophies. Personally, I canât bear to retire even at 57 years old (I need my high-school students as much as I hope they need me), but Iâll certainly enjoy Mrs Wenbladâs retirement plans vicariously. God bless you, Dear, and thank you for your extraordinary contributions to Newtownâs children!
