The Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) invites  community members to its next summer benefit on Saturday, June 14 at 7 pm. The 3rd Annual SHOP Food, Beer and Wine Tasting, Plus Silent Auction will take place in the community room of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. main station, 18-20 Riverside Road.

Tickets are $35, and can be purchased in advance online at shopwinetasting.eventbrite.com

SHOP Marketing Coordinator Melissa Lopata said the event will offer an opportunity for residents to network among Sandy Hook business owners and community leaders, as well as to socialize with friends and neighbors. Food and desserts are being supplied by Figs Wood Fired Bistro, Foundry Kitchen & Tavern, Cover Two and The Villa Restaurant.

A variety of wines and beers will be supplied by area purveyors, and attendees can bid during an expansive silent auction featuring premier items. The festivities will also feature live background music from emcee John Voket.

Organizers hope to see a large turnout of residents supporting the local business organization's vision of a healthier, more connected and thriving Sandy Hook Village district.

One hundred percent of fundraiser proceeds go be devided between FAITH Food Pantry, SHOP's annual scholarship for a Sandy Hook business student, and event/marketing initiatives to drive foot traffic into Sandy Hook Village.

Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity has been instrumental in supporting the Sandy Hook Village community and business district. SHOP has helped implement ongoing revitalization, marketing, business growth, philanthropy and advocacy initiatives.

The group's mission is to promote the village as a family friendly, pedestrian-oriented community within Newtown which celebrates Sandy Hook’s unique historic heritage and beautiful natural setting.

This is being accomplished by partnering with town government, businesses, property owners, and residents in village design, economic enhancement, promotion, and civic engagement. For more than ten years, Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity has been the advocate, master planner, coordinator, and promoter of Sandy Hook.
