This June, Newtown Bridge Club is holding its 9th annual Longest Day fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. Over the past eight years, the club has raised over $84,000 to support those affected by this disease and their caregivers, and to advance the research efforts of the Association.

There will be duplicate bridge games (Open, 499er and Newcomer/49er) on Tuesday, June 17, at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street. The Longest Day event will begin at 9:30 am with a light breakfast fare of pastries, coffee and tea, followed by the morning games at 10 am. A lunch break will be at 1 pm with the afternoon games at 2 pm. Bridge players are invited to play in either or both morning and afternoon games. Entry fees are $15 per session for each Open or 499er game and $10 for the Newcomer/49er game which is perfect for social bridge players or any player with less than 50 masterpoints.

There will be multiple Scrabble games (tournaments and casual) as well. For information about the Scrabble tournaments, please contact Cornelia Guest at CorneliaSGuest@gmail.com or 914-772-6535.

Any bridge or Scrabble player who brings in at least $100 in donations to the Alzheimer's Association will play free all day. Information on how to donate, including secure online donations, can be found on our website www.newtownbridge.org. Interested readers can email Linda Dale Mulholland at lindadalem@gmail.com. for more information about the bridge games.

Newtown Bridge Club holds three ACBL-sanctioned duplicate bridge games every week at Edmond Town Hall: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 12:30 pm. In addition, bridge lessons are offered on a regular basis for players of all levels. For more information about the Newtown Bridge Club, please contact Club Manager Susan Fronapfel at 203-733-8525 or visit the club’s website www.newtownbridge.org.
